Neo: A Tale of Loss, Love, and Renewal

In the past five years, I have experienced life in a way I wouldn't wish on anyone. I've experienced loss on levels that, in such a short time, I couldn't have imagined losing in a lifetime, let alone in a few years.

While surviving, I lost a connection in the end, in which there are no words to describe our relationship, our path or our love. Life stopped!!

It was a stop that made you wonder if it could start again. As I tried to make sense of it all, the puzzle pieces were shifting into place. There's a sadness that I will never fully articulate, not just for Chess, but for what we witnessed together over the years.

Enter King Neo-Utu, an incredible being who looks and feels much like Chess, yet he is distinctly Neo. He feels like home; he looks like he belongs. A connection that's loving, familiar, and honest. I wasn't expecting him, I didn't plan for him, but we are both ready to walk through life together. I don't know what the future holds, but even though it feels like we've been together for a lifetime, it's only been a week.

Neo = New

Utu = Sun/Light

Neo is the king of a new day, here to light up my life. He has come at a time when I no longer dwell on the past. Neo signifies a new life, a new challenge, a new drive, and a new way.

Dogs, in general, have been incredible companions, man's best friends, protectors, team members, family, and so much more for decades. I believe this is due to their ability to live in the moment. To be present in every moment, creating a simplicity humans have enjoyed for a long time.

In a world where self-help and personal development are growing industries, people often overlook those we feed, love, snuggle, walk with, and share our lives every day.

If you have a dog, take a moment to consider what they've been offering all along, and what you might have missed.

Dogs teach us about truth, letting go, forgiveness, and unconditional love, among other things. The only way to truly appreciate the insanely beautiful creature before you is to honour and allow them to be their most wonderfully connected selves, masters of body language and energy.

When you release the pressure of human responsibilities and see the world through their eyes, while leading them you may discover someone new.

If dogs have choices they have the responsibility of decisions. Decisions often require action. Yet in our society, when a dog takes action, it's often unacceptable. We call these actions behavioural issues.

Dogs deserve to live their best lives. Neo will live his best life, and in turn, I will live mine.
